Did Chalean Extreme Dynamic Yoga Flow w/weighted gloves in “The Lab” this morning.
My quads were tight and sore from CE Lower Body Extreme with 17.5# weights on Sunday and TurboFire at Fit Club yesterday, so Yoga was just what the doctor ordered. Yoga not only elongates your muscles and increases flexibility (for greater strength and less risk of injury), but it strengthens the muscles via static stretches and poses.
I love working out and it can be hard to slow down or take a rest day. But be sure to be in tune with your body. Two of my friends recently experienced injuries from working out. Your body tells you when it needs exercise, a nice long stretch and even when it needs a break from intense exercise. More importantly, muscles grow and build at rest (not when you’re breaking down the muscle tissue during strength training) – which is the premise behind not working the same muscle group (with weights) on consecutive days. So you actually improve your results by giving your body the rest it needs to recover and build. Strive to exercise 4-6 days a week with regularly scheduled rest days.
